A journey from Scandinavian furniture over flea market finds to vintage furniture.
For me, my home is a place where you can feel comfortable.
In my little home story I show you a mix of vintage, scandi and modernity
in a beautiful style combination.
Coming home is relaxation for me. First of all, put everything aside and start to feel comfortable.

Vintage furniture is my favourite thing to buy.
It’s not just furniture from a shop that anyone else could buy.
When you get an old piece of furniture, you also buy the history of that piece.
Where was it built? What journey has it been on? Who has owned it? How was it built?
Of course, not all questions can be answered for every piece of furniture you buy,
but maybe you will get some interesting information.
What I like is the patina of an old piece is quite different from a new one.
I think not everybody likes it when furniture has a few scratches or dents
here or there but for me it has a special charm.
Another advantage of vintage shopping is that you can be very lucky with the price,
because you can get furniture like this not only in designated shops but also on many
online platforms or at flea markets.
It is also worth buying more damaged pieces, because often you can upcycle them very nicely.
That means using parts for another projects or change something
about the piece itself in order to enhance it.

Scandinavian interior is the biggest trend in Europe since the last 10 years.
If you want to furnish your home in Scandinavian style,
there are a few things you have to keep in mind.
The style is characterized by a few principles.
It’s typical that many natural materials are being used in the style.
A lot of different woods especially light woods, natural woods and local woods
such as oak, pine, spruce or birch are being used.
Also lots of textiles such as linen, wool or cotton, which provide cosiness and give you that hygge feeling. Cotton and linen are used a lot in cushion covers, blankets,
tablecloths, bed linen, plaids and carpets.
Cosiness plays a big role, as does lightness.
Both together are essential for the hygge feeling, just as a lot of light and elegant shapes.
Scandinavian furniture is known for radiating a lightness despite the solidness
and it is this simple elegance that has made Scandinavian design famous all over the world.
A lot of light is reflected in the many harmonious light sources in the room,
such as lamps, candles or lanterns.
Through natural materials, light, bright colours and inspiration from nature,
the Nordic sense of life is expressed.

Hygge is a Danish and Norwegian word for a mood of coziness and comfortable conviviality with feelings of wellness and contentment.
The Mood of feeling warm, comfortable and safe.
As a cultural category with its sets of associated practices, hygge has more or less
the same meanings in Danish and Norwegian.
The emphasis on hygge as a core part of Danish culture is a recent phenomenon,
dating to the late 20th century and it comes from doing simple things such as
lighting candles, baking or spending time at home or with your family.
